Graduate Fashion Week is where it all begins. There is no disputing that we have the most amazing design talent in this country!

Until 1991 there was no comprehensive catwalk schedule amongst the UK’s leading fashion colleges. Shows took place over four weeks across the country with no synergy or focal point.

Over the years Graduate Fashion Week has launched the careers of such brilliant British designers such as, Stella McCartney, Julian MacDonald, Antonio Baradi, Hussein Cha-layan, Christopher Bailey, Stuart Vevers and Owen Gaster.

British designers and creatives are renowned for their ability to set the global fashion agenda.  Each year the British Fashion Awards celebrates their creativity and success.

Established in 1989, the British Fashion Awards was born from the British Fashion Council’s then five-year-old Designer of the Year Award. For more than 20 years, the British Fashion Awards has been celebrating the contributions of British designers, creatives and models to the international fashion scene.

The 2010 British Fashion Awards were held on Tuesday 7th December at The Savoy Hotel and Theatre, London. Phoebe Philo, Creative Director of Celine won the prestigious BFC Designer of the Year Award. Eleven other leading fashion figures were honoured: from Alexander McQueen’s recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, to the British Style Award, voted for by the public and won by Alexa Chung.
